Featherweight Blues

We've had a number of requests for the words of the Country and Western Song Graham Forsdyke wrote for this year's convention. It's sung to the tune of Folsom Prison Blues

I'm tangled in the tension
And I'm coming off the spool
Since my baby left me
I'm right off my sewing stool.

We used to sew together
But now love has turned to hate
'Cos when my baby left me
she done took our Featherweight.

We found it at the yard sale
It was black from all the grime.
The lady said ten dollars
Not to buy it was a crime.

We hauled it home in the pick-up truck
And so all our friends would know
We put it in the sewing room
All shined ... all show ... all go.

For a service at the Singer shop
My baby went to town
But that old sweet-talk mechanic
Stripped it and my wife right down.

Now they are headed Northwards
In that same ole pick-up truck
Just him, and her and the two two one
And I sure don't wish them luck.

I'm heading off to find them
But I'm not feeling mean
He can keep that cheating woman
Give me back my old machine

Chorus
Oh, we used to sew together
But now love has turned to hate
'Cos when my baby left me
She done took my featherweight.
